Babak is a highly talented and accomplished Iranian, Canadian Musician Composer, Guitarist, and a member of American Guitar Society (CSUN University, Northridge, CA). He is also a member of Toronto Musicians' Association. (TMA). instructor of Canada Music Academy. 

Babak Amini was born in April 1970 in Tehran, Iran. He was always  amused by the world of music and his first experience of music was  with his mentor and renounced teacher Mr. Shahrokh Partovi which he  began at the age of 10 and his style being Flamenco.

He then followed his ambition by the only master of all trades in  guitar, Mr. Simon Aivazian. He entered the professional world at the  age of 18. His first album was introduced in 1990 and was called 'Gray  Rain' followed by 'Blue of the Rain'. He then released his third  album, 'Shadow of My Own', which had vocals that was based on poets such as Hafez, Molana, Babataher and Nima.

In the midst of his last album, Babak worked on Googoosh's album (Zoroaster) as this Persian diva's first released album in more than two decades. Later he composed, arranged, and led Googoosh's orchestra for a tour around the world. While in tour, he decided to complete his solo album, 'Magic', in the US.

Until the year 2000 and other than his own albums, Babak had worked and cooperated with many well-known musicians in Iran. As a result, he featured in more than 30 albums as a composer, arranger, and guitar player.

After his move to Canada in the year 2000, Babak gave his first instrumental concert in Ontario Science Centre in 2002. Meanwhile, to continue more experiencing the styles of Jazz and Flamenco, Babak also had lessons and practiced with Levon Ichkanian and Roben Diaz.

Babak has been involved in many charity events such as performing for fundraising concert for the devastating earthquake of Bam, Iran, in  2002 with other Canadian and Iranian musicians at the Toronto Center for Arts.
 

 

While away from stage and live performance, Babak has been working on composing and arranging music. To name a few, Babak has:

  • Arranged songs for Googoosh in 2003 (Aabi - 2006, Pire Mashregh - 2004)
  • Arranging songs for Soli (Khorshide Roukh - 2006)
  • Arranged and composed second album for Meysam Bakhtiyari - 2005
  • Arranged several songs for Sogand 2004 - 2005
  • Arranged and composed an album for Meysam Bakhtiyari (Parvanegi - 2004)


In the years 2006 and 2007 Babak has been very active with his live performances and has performed at: 

  • Concert with Faramarz Aslani, 2007 (bandleader and lead guitar player)
  • Mehregan Festival in Orange County, 2006
  • Performed in Mehregan Festival in San Diego, 2006
  • Instrumental concert at Toronto Centre for the Arts, 2006
  • Beaches Jazz Festival, Toronto, 2006

 

To inspire new musicians and younger generation to pursue their dreams and talents in music, through his career Babak has always transferred his knowledge and style by tutoring talented students. He has also collaborated with many local and anonymous bands to inspire and encourage them. 

Babak has moved to Los Angeles since mid 2006 and has been actively working on his music and future albums. He has started collaborating with Andisheh TV as a producer and has been recording and airing his Guitar lessons on this TV.

In 2009, Babak returned to Toronto, teaching guitar and finishing his latest album "Brown Meldoies" which will be available soon.
